Dilanael
began life a a fantasy setting created for D&D's third edition in
2000. Oer it's ten year lifespan it changed along with my tastes and
the tastes of my gaming group and has been run using D&D 3.0 and
3.5, MUTT, diceless, and savage Worlds just to name a few. I finally
settled on MUTT as the mechanic of choice for Dilanael and what you're
looking at is the reboot of the setting.
To anyone who helped me build up this setting in tone and feeling,
thank you. I've had some of the best gamers ever at my table. And if
you had a character in Dilanael, don't worry. They're still there. they
might have changed, not being PC's, but I love that idea. Not only do
we get new stories of new heroes in a new place, but we get to see the
"what if" versions of our old favorites.
Dilanael is a world that began in the nation of Samia (capital city:
Samia, you'll see that theme crop up a lot). Samia was founded and continues to be run by a series of
sorcerer kings called the Whitefire's. Samia is divided into Dutcheys each ruled
by a Duke or Duchess (or both), with the nobility and the merchant class bleeding
together to form an upper crust. It contains all the basic D&D
races in one form or another, with my own personal modifications. More
on races later.
Dilanael eventually became not just Samia but Samia, Pedrinni, North
and South Molvini (a pair of nations locked in civil war for
centuries),the Vaasa, Shore Wells, the great Desert and
Vatica. The end result is a living
breathing world that is full of all manner of people, places, and
groups for you to interact withy.
