Most monks of this order wear whites and blues, though this is mostly due to the robes they train in being adorned with these colors. Some members of this order train their whole lives in the monestary, while others leave and go on long journeys to test themselves.
This skill is used for many of the monks everyday tasks (meditation, lore regarding the style as well as recognizing other styles) and it also receives the following additional benefits at the levels indicated. Most of these abilities only apply if the monk is unencumbered (ie: not wearing bulky armor or gear and not using a very heavy weapon) but certain aspects may apply even under these circumstances.
- The Art of Lightness. The
Apprentice of the Frozen Light has an amazing sense of balance:
something instilled in him by the rigorous training of hte first few
months. He has spend many hours on one foot or walking balance
beams (just to get around the temple). He hoists himself almost
eight feet into bed every night and down again when he wakes. And
for this reason, as long as he is not overburdened (with armor, heavy
weapons, heavy gear, etc) he will not need to make more attribute or
skill checks involving balance or short climbs (a few feet). He
simply succeeds. If the circumstances are particularly
treacherous, he may need to make a check, but bear in mind that this
task will rarely be very difficult for someone so skilled.
- Leaping Kick.
The Initiate of the Frozen Light canuse powerful leaping kicks against
any opponant they can reach (this includes the alarming jumping ability
they posess). these kicks will usually move the enemy in question
several feet back (unhorsing riders, and sending anyone else flying a
few feet). This does not apply to anyone who is signifigantly
larger than the character (signifigantly means more than double their
weight in this case).
- Leap
of the Clouds. The Disciple of the Frozen Light is not bound by
his body when he takes to the air. He leaps and jumps as is he
weighed nothing. He must still land someplace sturdy, but the
Disciple can leap almost any reasonable height (consider that he can
jump to anyplace he could throw a small rock to, if that makes it
easy). He does not take falling damage from these leaps as
long as he was in control of the leap itself.
- The
Weapon of Air. The Adept of the Frozen Light is like a tornado or
a windstorm. He need not make physical contact with his enemy to
harm them. The Adept need only strike within one foot per level
of this skill to strike an enemy (he kicks up the air between them in
such a way as to harm his enemy). this attack can never do
greater than a Moderate Wound, and many believe that it is best used
for throwing or deflecting, but Masters of the style have been said to
kill with it in the past.
- Emptiness.
The Master of the Frozen Light is a being for whom physical existance
rarely matters. He moves as if he had no weight. He may run
across water, dance of pine branches, and run directly up walls (as
well as leaping to the tops of buildings). He will never take
falling damave again as long as he is awake (and even unconscious he
gets a roll of this skill to avoid it). He floats to teh ground
with ease.
