Dilanael is currently full of
powerful and interesting people. This page is dedicated to modern
celebrities of Dilanael. Not all will be known to everyone and a lot of
it is heavily dependent on your location, but these are some of the
movers and shakers.
Talia Whitefire: The Queen of Samia, Talia was
crowned recently. Her daughter, Ashton, acted in treason and killed the
King and his son the crown prince. In the aftermath and rubble of
Allston after the war, Talia rose to the throne. Historians are
fascinated since Talia was never intended to take the throne. Her
brother was the eldest child and he had a son late in life, so the
people had come to expect a king Edward Whitefire (and indeed, there
had already been paintings and engravings commissioned).
Soren Whitefire: The King of Samia, Soren is
actually of the Thunderhammer line, not the Whitefire line. He married
into the family to unify the Whitefire and Thunderhammer lines.
Formerly the High Mage of Red Fern, Soren is a known diviner with a
respected reputation among modern spell casters.
Elara Brichtenthal: Called simple the Empress
by most, though her official title is several lines long, the Empress
of the Vatican Empire is a powerful woman. While her Ministers are
thought by many to do the majority of the work of the Empire, it is
undisputed that the Empress rules the Blood. And as goes the Blood, so
goes the Empire. The Empress is willowy and pale with fiery red hair
and bright eyes, the color of which varied from description to
description. She is not an old woman, though nobody knows her true age.
She is adored and worshiped by her people by default and is rarely seen
in public.
Sovolthane: The recently elevated emperor of
the Vaasa, Sovolthane is also the leader of the Priest Blades. He is
thought of as the most advanced Priest in the world, though he does not
claim the title of god as his father did. Sovolthane's rule has not
been in place long, but he and his partner Jizelle have made some
sweeping changes related to foreign policy and trade in the short
months. Sovolthane is rumored to have been the Priest who slew Cyperion
during the war, though he denies having struck the killing blow.
High Mage Sulius: For many years Sulius was
the high mage of Red Fern. He was replaced by the High Mage Evelyn when
he moved to Pedrinni to serve the King as High Mage for the whole
nation of Pedrinni, a position he holds to this day. By all accounts
Sulius is very old, over a hundred most say, and while he does not
appear quite that old he is said to look almost seventy. Sulius is
known to be among the finest crafters of magical items in the world,
and had a reputation for pushing the limits of what traditional schools
of thinking tell us are possible.
Illoquel: Among troubadours, bars, and some
scholars, Illoquel is a source of mysterys. She is called one of the
finest minstrels and performers to live, yet few see her perform. She
is rumored to travel a specially designed circuit of small towns,
villages, and ports. She almost never entertains for a crowd of more
than thirty and her work has never been written down or transcribed.
The only exception in recorded history was when she performed at the
reception for the Samian royal wedding, which took place in the city of
Dane's Grove. Illoquel is said to be Feirnoth and exceptionally
beautiful.
Merret: Little is known publicly about the
High Priest of Tara Reisz. He is known to be at least part elf and many
suspect that he is half Feirnoth. Rumors abound about this young high
priest, the first of which is that he is young and has been young since
he too the office almost a hundred years ago. A few whisper that he was
gifted with eternal youth by Tara Reisz, but more practical people
suggest that perhaps Merret is merely a title held by the high priest
and passed on like the robes of office. Many believe that the office is
held communally and the person who looks most like the description of
Merritt is the one who speaks for the church. Whatever the case, this
High priest is particularly enigmatic.
Apothis: Known almost worldwide as the
greatest living swordsman, Apothis has lead the Dragonshome Band for
almost ten years, since Tysear was either killed, died, or elevated to
the station of God (depending on who you believe). The Band has changed
much in that time from a merciless troupe to a group with morals.
People are far more accepting of the Band as of late, and people in
Samia are especially happy with them after the excellent showing they
put up during the recent War. Apothis is rumored to be very good
looking and among the best swordsmen alive, though many say he has
never taken on a student.
Bekkir: The rumor of the Bekkir is centered
largely around the city of Red Fern. It is known as a dark clad figure
who stalks the city at night carrying a staff that is a sword. He is
said to kill with a thought and believed to suck the souls from the
young. Most believe him to be a myth.
Chokar col Durn: Recently elevated High Mage
of Red Fern, Durn has actually lived in the city for ages. Said to be
some sort of elf (Sanamede is a popular choice) he has spent years
living just outside Ref Fern is what was once the home of a trio of ill
principled wizards. The Triumvirate, as they were called, were removed
and Durn took the tower for himself. He is known for his flying ship
design, which allowed kilpa-free trade between both the Vaasa and the
Great Desert (though such trips are still long journeys). Durn has a
reckless reputation and many are concerned about his rise to power in
Red Fern.
King Leothandi Tudorella: The King of
Pedrinni, Leothandi is said to be a paladin following the behest of
some obscure Scorchlands god that was worshiped by his wife, a
Tribeswoman once herself. The King and Queen of Pedrinni are hereditary
titles and as such they are not a matched set. The queen is said to
dislike the King, in fact, and they rarely agree on matters of state
easily, though they are required to come to unanimous decisions on
many subjects.
Queen Maria DiCello: The Queen of Pedrinni,
she is said to be a hard woman with little love for social niceties.
Her guard are more numerous than those of the King, though they hold
less respect in the eyes of the people of Pedrinni, who love Leothandi.
Kel: godlike figure worshiped or at least
revered by the Children of Kel. The Children claim that he is the
living incarnation of death and that he grants them mystical powers.
Little more is known about this figure, including whether he exists at
all.
Simon Saint: Infamous priest of Meiros (and
Maeros in Vatica) Simon Saint is universally disliked by his church.
Wearing the ancient grey robes on the church in defiance of modern
church tradition, Simon is said to bear any affliction that one can
imagine. Hairless, fat, too thin, a midget, an albino, a deformed
freak. Very few people have a worse reputation than Simon Saint, and
yet he is elusive. Very few people have actually seen him and most
outside the church are not aware of him at all.
Eric Bayle: Assumed leader of the outlaws
known as the Brotherhood of the Whip, this figure is usually said to be
a Rigothan elf, at least in part. He has bright orange hair and equally
bright orange eyes in most tales and though you would think that would
make him easy to find, he constantly eludes the law in Pedrinni. While
he and his Brotherhood are hated by the authorities and the crown they
are loved by the people, which many say is the secret to his success.
The Bones: The world's deadliest assassin.
Nobody knows what the Bones looks like or even who he is, but he is the
highest paid man in the Guild. If you absolutely need someone to be
dead and you have all the money in the world to spend, the Bones is
your man. If you can contact the Guild and if you can get him.
The Duchess Teir Alvarin: young Duchess of
Allston. Allston is notable because it is the largest city in the
known world and Teir is the youngest Duchess in the history of the
city. Teir's father died when she was 16 and she took up the mantle of
Duchess with difficulty, but most say that the war hardened her and
she is said to be a better ruler since the war.
