Dilanael's history is full of
interesting people. This place is dedicated to commonly known figures
who can give you an idea of what sort of legends you're living under.
Theresa Whitefire: Originally of the Alvarin
noble family of Allston, Theresa was the founder of the paladins of
Aura Vek as well as her first servant. She and her companions rescued
Kiriel (the last Whitefire heir) and restored him to power while
managing to help the nation win the War of Ascension. She was known as
a powerful warrior, a holy servant of her faith, and a proponent of
Justice in Samia.
Kiriel Whitefire: During the War of Ascension,
Kiriel was the last living Whitefire and his confinement in the city of
Red Fern almost wiped the line out. Kiriel was restored to his rightful
place as King, however, and took one of his rescuers as a bride. He is
known as one of the most powerful Kings in Samian history, second only
to Madras Whitefire.
Madras Whitefire: The founder of the Whitefire
line of sorcerer kings. Madras united the various human tribes under
one banner and founded the nation of Samia. madras is recorded as the
first human sorcerer and is reputed to have been the most powerful
sorcerer to have ever lived.
Quarivol: The first member of the church of
Avali, this mysterious druid is speckled throughout history for the
last hundred years. Some say he was human, others say he was an elf,
and still others claim he was a Tectan reborn. He is credited with
having influenced the War of Ascension, the political structure of
several circles of Druids, and the Shel Rishad. He is also associated
at times with the city of Dane's Grove and the death of Garinex, the
great Bronze Dragon.
Tobias Thunderhammer: One of the great heroes
of the War of Ascension as well as of the age of heroes in general,
Tobias Thunderhammer is generally credited with having slain the
Firelord in martial combat on the fields of the War of Ascension and
ending the war almost single handedly. His own journals from this time
downplay these events, though bardic histories are almost always in
agreement. He is known as the founder of the Thunderhammer line and the
first lord of Dane's grove.
Tysear: One of the most mysterious figured of
the last two hundred years, Tysear has probably had more impact on the
modern era than any other man save Madras Whitefire himself. As often
called a dragon as a man, Tysear indisputably performed several great
acts, including to single handedly slay a dragon in Workman's Valley.
It is said that he was bathed in lightning which spewed forth from the
dragon's mouth and still he defeated it easily. He was the founder of
the Dragonshome band and despite record of his death, he has a strong
religious following throughout Samia and the surrounding nations.
The Firelord: Also known as the godmaker, this
powerful figure gathered and lead armies against Samia twice, roughly
fifty years apart from one another. Legend states that he sires Tobias
Thunderhammer, though many tales deny this. What is clear is that he
was the single greatest threat to face Samia and the surrounding
continent in ages and he was defeated on the battlefield, heralding the
end of not only the War of Ascension but, scholars say, the end of the
Age of Heroes. Historically he is known as the first high Priest of
Mekis and it is said that he bathed his enemies in raw flames on the
battlefield.
Johnathan Harrier: The former high priest of
Jebedah. He is historically noteworthy due to his ability to harness
the power of the church without having any magical talent whatsoever.
His writings are legendary and almost every large library has a copy of
his "History of Samia" as well as "Natural Law and Artifice".
Cyperion: This powerful figure was the former
god-emperor of the Vaasa. He was the founder of the school of thought
and training known as the Blade Priests. He lead his vast and terrible
military against the nation of Samia and almost conquered the nation
whole. Scholars agree that he would have succeeded had he not met his
death in Allston, and further admit that his armies could have finished
the job without him had his son not taken control of the troops and
withdrawn.
Ashton Whitefire: Known as the Kinslayer, this
Whitefire was disowned by the royal line for treason as well as for
slaying her own father and the former King's son (and the crown-prince
of Samia). Former-king Marcus Whitefire met his end slaying her in
battle high above Allston and she died, but not before unleashing vast
magical damage upon the city that took months to clear and years to
rebuild.
Blaize: Great chronicler and historian as well
as an entertainer and songwriter, this troubadour of the age of legends
is second only to Illoquel in respect among other performers and
historians. And most people consider his tales to be more interesting
than those of his contemporaries.
